TONY WILSON  STORYTELLER

I am a Storyteller, Writer, Teacher and Musician with visits to over 1,500 schools and colleges since 1999. I tell stories from around the World and create 'bespoke', topic- related stories with children to fit in with their current areas of study.

What I can offer your school

An enjoyable, interactive, age-relevant, story and writing-based workshop that gives the pupils an understanding of what a story needs to have in it to hold a listener and a reader.

In line with the current, Ministerial, ideas about teaching English through phonics, reading and sounds I can present workshops that are serially developed throughout the Primary age range to create alliterative stories and poems that can be later developed into prose that is both age and vocabulary appropriate.

The educational staff can see how they can adapt and adopt a series of easily- repeated techniques to increase their own repetoire of teaching techniques for developing creative writing.

A series of multi-ethnic stories that can be built upon as a basis for creative thought and to be used a template for further writing after my visit.

A non-threatening, confidence building, curriculum-relevant literacy event that is just plain fun.

" In a time when children are more likely to say they can't, after seeing Tony they say,"I can!" "                                       Head of Year North Yorks 2012

" It's inspirational to watch Tony bring out the best in all 300 of the children during the assembly. Every time, over 4 years, a different aspect of writing and every time different stories. Fantastic!"                                                           English Co-ordinator Leeds 2012

"With my experience of staying at home in the early 80's and raising my own children, coupled to my 7 years of experience as a classroom practitioner in the early 90's, three years as a lecturer in communications and children's development and then my travels, since 1999, as a full-time storyteller working in a multitude of different schools and situations I know that I have developed the skills that are needed to bring out the best in the students and teaching professionals.

I know that I have had such a breadth of experience that I can design a series of activities that would fit the needs of the school and the pupils to make the most of their potential.

I also know what it is like to have to manage a budget and I can assure you that I offer value for money."

"He brings everything that the children need to encourage them to write. With a few simple, everyday objects he shows them that it's possible to spontaneously create a story."                                          Teacher. Nottinghamshire 2012

"Your input to the whole school was worth every penny. I could only see a small part of each of the sessions but the staff cannot praise you enough. You have given us a lot of inspiration and ideas to work on. Thanks again."                                            Head Teacher. Coventry

"I felt that I could immediately use the methods Tony used in the classroom with my children. I feel that I can meet the challenge to create a story from everyday objects." NQT Birmingham

"You can tell by the way that he reacts and talks to the children that he has been a great teacher, but he is an even better storyteller. I have never seen a story told in the way that he does it. Charismatic and charming and the children loved him. I have never seen them so entranced for so long a time."                     Yr. 3 Teacher Poole. Dorset

"Every time that he comes to the school he has a whole range of different, practical ideas that I can use. The children love him and look forward to his annual visit!" Yr 2 Teacher Reading

"I learned more about how to practically write a story with a class of children in the first 10 minutes of his workshop than I had in all of my lectures!" 3rd Year B.Ed. Student
